Seven Steps to Starting a New Chapter

STEP 1 CONTACT LOCAL OFFICIALS FOR SUPPORT
 
  • Warden, Director, Agency Head
   
STEP 2 IDENTIFY MEMBERS
 
  • Request local member listing from the SCCA President
  • Post a sign-up sheet for those who are already members
  • Advise new members to provide employer information on the SCCA MembershipApplication, even if they are using home address for mail
   
STEP 3 CHAPTER ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING
 
  • Post meeting notice/Contact members
  • Set goals of Chapter
  • Elect Chapter officers
  • Adopt Chapter by-laws (may adopt SCCA by-laws)
  • Read carefully and sign SCCA Chapter Agreement
  • The Chapter may request (in writing) startup funding from theSCCA Treasurer
   
STEP 4 MEMBERSHIP
 
  • Encourage membership
  • Welcome members
  • Recognize renewals
  • Member Rebate Program – The Chapter may request (in writing) $3.00 per member per year from the SCCA Treasurer
   
STEP 5 SET UP BANK ACCOUNT/ACCOUNTING BOOKS
 
   
STEP 6 FUNDRAISERS
 
  • Encourage member involvement
  • Provide better operating capital
  • Highlight the Chapter
  • Create interest from potential members
   
STEP 7 SCCA INVOLVEMENT
 
  • The Chapter President is a member of SCCA Board of Directors
  • Encourage attendance of the Chapter President to SCCA Board meetings
  • Recognition of the Chapter with most attendance at Conference


Annually, the Chapter President will compile a written report of all Chapter activity for the preceding year:
